Cookie's Chuck Wagon: Thunder Mountain Dwarves' Baggage Train Pt. 1

Not a super-exciting post, just finished painting one baggage train section for my 2,000 point Dwarf army.  I've got another 2 wagons planned as the army grows beyond 2k points, including the obligatory beer wagon...
...the wagon itself is by Battle Forge...their models aren't cheap, but they are beautiful, I think...
4 of the required 5 camp followers are old Citadel pieces, 1 an old Grenadier Dwarf Master Merchant...
"Mmm!  I love me a roasted goat, yes I do...Oh da boys'll be so happy with this yummy roasted goat, oh, my, yes..."
"Come on, hurry up, ya cranky ol' SOB!!"
"Ey, you talkin' to me?"
"No, shut up, ya old goat, I'm talkin' to the horse!"
"Aw, Man!  I don't think we're where we are supposed to be at all...  Look...it shows a fork in the road here at a place called Alba Kirke...I think we were supposed to turn left...anybody remember a sign that said Alba Kirke? Fuck!  We're never gonna catch up with the column now!"

  1. Nice little vignette . I like the old feller with the stick and good to see an Old Grenadier figure in there. Might have a look at Battleforge....

    1. Thanks, Friend! Yes, Battleforge makes very lovely and characterful models. They do expect you to pay for them, though. The models are a joy to paint and own, but be prepared to bite down hard on a stick as they saw off your bank account.

  2. Very nice, Mouse. Love the map-reader! Did you make those houses in the background? They're fantastic!

    1. Thanks, amigo! Yes, I did make the houses in the background. They are mine, all mine...NO!!! That's a pack of lies...they are actually made by a guy in Northern England. His operation is so tiny that he doesn't even have a website...he just throws his stuff up on ebay every once in a while, and if you're lucky you can catch it...his store is called pmc games. I just ordered a big townhouse model from him at an incredibly reasonable price and as soon as it comes in I plan on doing my first ever product review post in honor of him, so watch for that...

  3. Lovely selection of minis - I find some of the non combat types like this lot are the most interesting!

    1. Thanks, Thantsants! I agree. I have a fondness for collecting and painting non-combatant types...villagers, camp followers, etc. I think it has something to do with being able to get away from the theme of soldiery for a little bit and paint something different, but which is still a part of your imaginary world...some tiny detail of your undiscovered country...baggage trains were a great feature of the old 3rd edition, mostly for this reason, I think...
